Our ESD5500E governor is a long-standing, versatile and very popular governor that can be applied to multiple engine/actuator applications. It features:

  • Isochronous, droop and variable speed operation

The ESD5XXX series controllers are available in standard, light force and light force with enhanced droop control. CONTROLLING EXHAUST SMOKE AT ENGINE START-UP

We offer cost-effective engine management solutions to reduce black smoke that replace existing governor systems to help you meet local and worldwide exhaust control emissions standards. 

A plume of black exhaust smoke is usually emitted during start-up and acceleration.  Mechanical governors are often set to over-fuel the engine to guarantee the engine starts. 

Our digital and analog governor controllers use adjustable start fuel and speed ramping features to enable the optimum compromise between start time, acceleration and exhaust smoke.

The start fuel feature sets the initial actuator position controlling the amount of fuel at cranking, while the speed ramping feature adjusts the rate of acceleration and deceleration between idle and rated speed. These parameters can be applied to both constant and variable speed applications.

The starting fuel and speed ramping adjustments control the start characteristics of the engine.  Proper adjustments provide a smooth start with minimum excess fuel to significantly reduce exhaust smoke.
